Who is Joel McDonald?

To put it simply, I am a traffic consultant for Realtors, and I focus primarily on 3 niches:

  • Adwords: I help real estate agents drive high volumes of low-cost traffic to their websites via Google Adwords - a pay-per-click traffic system.  I operate on an exclusive basis (limit of one Realtor per city).
  • Organic Search Engine Placement: I also empower agents with smaller budgets to get free traffic from Google, Yahoo & MSN through a service called Residentiality.com. Residentiality is a month-to-month fee service, and is also limited to one real estate agent per city. Typical users of Residentiality’s “Traffic Boost” system see top 3 placement for highly qualified search phrases within a week or two.
  • CRM solution: Finally, for agents who already have plenty of traffic, we have a solution called AutomatedHomefinder.com. Automated Homefinder is a proprietary CRM solution designed to help agents increase conversion rates by automating as much as possible about the follow-up process with internet leads. (Automated Homefinder is currently limited to the following areas: Colorado (several metro areas), Richmond VA, Phoenix AZ, and Austin TX.)

Personal:
I am a hockey & ultimate frisbee playing, skiing, snowboarding, soccer & tball coach who loves Colorado.  I’ve lived here 15 years, and my wife and I plan on living the rest of our lives here.  We have two children (a boy and a girl), and try to keep up with their busy soccer, gymnastics, tball, dancing, karate, piano, violin, and birthday party schedule.

My Career:
I got my start in real estate when I bought my first home as a Freshman in College. (It was cheaper to buy a 5 bedroom house and rent to roomies than to rent a room in a house or apartment.) After convincing a few friends to do the same, I realized I could have made a commission doing so, and got my license right after graduation. I then moved to Colorado to start my career as a Realtor.

After a few years with Century 21, I decided to start my own company, Benchmark Realty, LLC (because I wasn’t taking advantage of anything my brokerage had to offer and decided that cutting franchise fees and management splits would give me a nice little raise). Soon after starting my own company, a few of the agents in my old office wanted to come over with me. I decided that if I was going to manage other agents, I was going to earn my keep by making sure I never hired more agents than I could actively help find business for. That was the beginning of Automated Homefinder - a CRM & lead generating tool that our Colorado Benchmark Realty agents use to generate over 75% of their business.

About Automated Homefinder:
Although AHF has been in Colorado for the past 10 years, we’re now expanding into other markets where Realtors have invited us to try out our business model, and see if we can help them convert more of their prospects into closings.  Those markets include Phoenix AZ, Richmond VA, and Austin TX.
